What are Beeswax Wraps?

Before we discuss what you can and can’t wrap with beeswax wrap, we should answer, what are beeswax wraps?

Beeswax wraps are a reusable eco-friendly alternative to plastic wrap! Due to their antibacterial properties they are perfect for preserving food, keeping it fresher for longer!

Do's and Don'ts

Do:

Nature Bee beeswax wraps are perfect for preserving cut fruits and veggies! Our small size beeswax wrap is ideal for fruits!

Don’t:

When it comes to citrus fruits, our beeswax wraps work excellent but not for long periods of time. Especially pineapple! The acidity of the fruit will eat away at the beeswax wrap over time. Short periods of time, typically 3-5 days, will keep your fruits fresher!

Do:

Wrap cheese, sandwiches, baked goods, and snack foods, like nuts, with beeswax wraps! Our jumbo size beeswax wrap is perfect for wrapping loaves of bread.

You can even make snack packs with your beeswax wraps! They are great for keeping your lunch organized and fresh.

Don’t:

We advise against using our beeswax wraps for wrapping raw meats, cooked meats, or for foods that contain lots of oil! Oil can stain your beeswax wrap.

Nature Bee beeswax wraps can cover items that contain oil, however, it is always best to ‘play it safe’ and avoid contact with these sorts of foods. A simple work around is putting the food item in a bowl and using the beeswax wrap to cover the top of the bowl, like a lid!

Do:

Do use beeswax wraps to cover bowls of food! You might wonder, do beeswax wraps cover full bowls? Yes! Our large size beeswax wrap will do just the trick!

Don’t:

We get asked quite often, can you wrap warm or hot things with beeswax wrap? We do not recommend using beeswax wraps on warm or hot items! Nor do we recommend you use beeswax wraps in the microwave, on the oven, in the stove, in the dishwasher, or in the washing machine.

By using them this way, it may result in permanent damage to your beeswax wrap or cause a potential fire hazard. Beeswax wraps are NOT fireproof!

The heat will cause the beeswax infusion on your wrap to melt away. This leaves your beeswax wrap with an uneven layer of wax, overall negatively affecting its usability. The beeswax wrap will lose its stickiness!

There you have it folks, what you can and can’t wrap with beeswax wrap!
